Our Work

We equip global policy practitioners with the tools needed to tackle complex public problems, turning ideas into action.

Our Work to Date

Since our founding in 2012, we have empowered practitioners to find context-appropriate solutions to local problems, improving the implementation of policies and programs. Explore our work, by year, below.

We deepened our engagement with global policy practitioners. Through the fourth iteration of our action-learning program in Papua New Guinea, we strengthened the capability of local leaders to create broad coalitions for change. We launched a new online platform to engage our Community of Practice (CoP) and convened our first in-person meet-up in Bahrain for our alumni.

We joined the Center for Public Leadership at HKS and launched new programs in Helsinki and Wyoming. We debuted an executive education program, Strategies for Inclusive Growth, encouraging practitioners to leverage elements of PDIA in their economic growth strategies. We released the Leadership, Organizing, and Action podcast series featuring Marshall Ganz.

We marked a decade of BSC with a celebratory event and new podcast series. Through our work with the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative, we supported city teams working on complex problems. We unveiled a redesigned website to enhance search and user experience, while also expanding our library of publications through the release of 5 new papers.

We worked with teams in Sri Lanka, Albania, Honduras, Brazil, and South Africa, on pressing public policy problems. We developed executive education programs such as Implementing Public Policy (IPP) and Leading Economic Growth (LEG). We produced books, papers, toolkits, cases, podcasts, blog posts, and videos to help practitioners solve complex problems.

Training Programs

We offer training programs designed to help practitioners working on real challenges break down problems, test solutions, and build momentum for lasting impact.

Degree Programs

We teach two master’s-level courses at Harvard, introducing graduate students to policy implementation and on how the PDIA approach works in practice.

Past Programs

We taught in the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Collaboration Track from 2020-2023 and offered free PDIA online courses from 2015-2019.

“IPP has been the therapy I didn’t know I needed. It has taught me to slow down, deconstruct before I construct, and treat policy not as a race to solutions but as a dance with complexity and humanity.”
